Coffee Bar, Art & More

Seattle needs more coffee like the world needs more social influencers, but we couldn’t help ourselves… we love coffee and we love Ballard. We opened our doors to offer our community and neighbors a place to get a simple cup of coffee, mire in some of our favorite local artist’s work, and enjoy semi-frequent pop up events and community meet ups.

JULY ARTIST | JOHN WOODRUFF

About the Artist:

John finds artistic clarity in repetition and adherence to the inherent rules governing each piece or series he creates. Subtle nuances emerge in the interplay of form, light and time giving rise to intricate compositions where disparate elements coalesce into harmonious wholes. His work is both approachable and visually captivating, acknowledging that at its essence it begins as a simple rectangle—an idea and some time.

Originally from Seattle, John studied Photographic Arts and Art History in Salzburg Austria and received a BFA in Fine Art Photography from RIT. In 1991 he began a career in photography in New York, eventually making his way west continuing his career in Chicago and San Francisco. He now lives again in Seattle with his wife and kids.

GUEST COFFEE ROASTER | SPRING 2024

Bluebeard Coffee Roasters is a small batch specialty coffee roaster peopled by a multi-talented group of Tacomans. We are fiercely proud of our coffees and gathering spaces, and the communities – far and near – that they represent and support.  How about the name? The short answer? Bluebeard was the owner’s family childhood cat. His dad was an English teacher, and Kurt Vonnegut's books were a steady presence around the house growing up, so he assumes the cat's name came from Vonnegut’s novel by the same name.
